Helping the chronic worrier

Helping the chronic worrierAre you often overcome with worry, anxiety or dread, but don’t know where it’s coming from? If you are in a position of leadership, you may have an extra responsibility as you support and coach your followers enabling them to keep their worry in check.

In CareLeader.com,  Jon Noto offers us 3 techniques to help the chronic worrier overcome his anxieties.

  1. Community– If someone is struggling with anxiety, make sure they are not alienating themselves. Being part of a community can greatly help a worrier. By understanding that they are not alone, it may help them move forward from their fears.
  2. Expression– Often, people with anxiety tend to either not speak at all, or speak much, but about nothing significant. Encourage the worrier to engage in meaningful, honest expression of their feelings and desires.
  3. Faith- Anxious people can learn to exercise more calm in their life if they work on developing a lifestyle of faith. When we believe in something greater than ourselves, many worries begin to naturally fade away.
