Initial Psychotic Episode Best Managed by Team-Based Approach

WellnessAre you living with someone with a mental health issue? Are you afraid of a psychotic episode? Have you struggled to find the best treatment and care for your loved one?

A new project funded by theNational Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) suggests that first episode psychosis is best cared for using a team-based, coordinated specialty care approach.

John M. Kane, M.D. created a treatment program that uses a coordinated specialty care called NAVIGATE. The program includes a team of specialists who work with each client to create a personalized treatment plan. The recovery may include psychotherapy, medication, family support, case management and work or education support.

By creating a personalized treatment plan for each client, taking into account his individual needs at the time, results can be more effective and achieved faster.
